Measuring Electrical Activity in Muscles and Neurons Demo (Optional)

In particular, let’s take a look into how the muscle movements happen due to the transfer
of neurotransmitter. The axons of motor neurons extend from the spinal cord to the
muscle fibers. For intending to perform any action, either of the speech or body, the
command has to originate from the brain to the spinal cord. From the spinal cord, the
command has to pass through motor neurons to the specific body parts, upon which the
respective actions will be performed. The electrical impulse released along the axon of
the motor neuron arrives at the axon terminal. Once they are there, then the
neurotransmitters are secreted to carry the signals across the synapse. The receptors in the
membrane of the muscles cells attach to the neurotransmitters and stimulate the
electrically charged ions within the muscle cells. This leads to the contraction or
extension of the respective muscles.
