neurosci. Method used for the regulation of biological activity in an organism based on the flow of information between parts of the organism. An example is negative feedback control in the endocrine system, in which rising concentrations of a hormone in the bloodstream result in a lowering of the level of stimulation of cells that produce that hormone.
